Summary. Actuality. Renal cell cancer is among the 10 most common oncological diseases in Ukraine. Features of the course of this disease complicate its diagnosis in the early stages. The purpose of the work. To cite a clinical case of metastatic renal cell carcinoma with secondary damage to the minor salivary gland of the hard palate. Materials and methods. The clinical case was considered, the data of diagnostic studies were analyzed, and the effectiveness of treatment measures was evaluated. Results. Patients with tumors of the oropharyngeal area require a comprehensive clinical examination to rule out the metastatic nature of neoplasms of this location. Surgical excision of the tumor focus of rare localizations is an important diagnostic and therapeutic tool. On the one hand, we get verification of the process, in this case metastatic, which gives additional information about its staging. On the other hand, it is the initial part of cytoreductive treatment. Given the extremely low probability of metastasis of renal cell carcinoma to the minor salivary gland of the oral cavity, certain difficulties arise in the histological examination of the surgical material in such cases. Immunohistochemical examination plays a decisive role in the verification of neoplasms of the oropharyngeal area. Conclusions. Metastatic lesion of the salivary glands is a rare manifestation of renal cell carcinoma. Routine histopathological examination cannot always indicate the correct diagnosis. Performing an immunohistochemical analysis allows optimizing the diagnostic algorithm for metastatic lesions of the salivary glands. Combined treatment of well-differentiated oligometastatic renal cell carcinoma of the kidney, including cytoreductive nephrectomy and metastasectomy of a solitary lesions followed by systemic therapy, provides acceptable results in terms of overall and cancer-specific survival in young patients. A multidisciplinary approach of highly specialized oncological care are important for diagnosis and treatment of non-trivial forms of metastases of kidney cancer. No Comments » Add your |
