How to improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with prostate cancer in Ukraine? Results of the 2023 surveySummary. In recent years, the possibilities of diagnosis and treatment of patients with prostate cancer (PCa) in Ukraine have expanded significantly. In particular, the provision of medicines at public expense (free for patients) has significantly improved over the past 4–5 years. These and other trends of recent years are stated in the study based on the materials of expert surveys «Prostate cancer in Ukraine», conducted by the company «Medical Data Management» in the summer-autumn of 2023. As stated in the conclusions, to improve the results and prognosis of patients, it is necessary to focus efforts on earlier diagnosis of the disease, expand the use of positron emission (PET) computed tomography (CT) with determination of the distribution of prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA), fusion biopsy, expand state support for ensuring the availability of basic drugs for the treatment of prostate cancer. Detailed conclusions and recommendations were formed based on the analysis of in-depth interviews with specialized doctors (7 with oncologists, urologists and 3 with key experts), patients (9) and literature data.
