The review discusses the effect of psychic trauma of cancer diagnosis and distress associated with treatment, as well as mental health problems caused by these events, on the course and outcome of the disease. Data on the activation of cancer progression under the influence of these mental disorders are presented. The necessity of using a beta-blocker drugs and crisis psychotherapy as soon as possible after the diagnosis is announced, in order to prevent the activation of the cancer process and increase the effectiveness of treatment in general, is justified.
