Detection of sentinel lymph nodes in surgery for breast cancer: view on the issue

Summary. Methods of identifying sentinel lymph nodes have been worked out to minimize the complications of radical surgery for breast cancer. However, the results after sentinel lymph nodes resection at early stages of the disease are similar to those when the full lymph node dissection is performed. The article presents the recommendations and indications for this method and the current standards of treatment of early stages of breast cancer.
