D2 lymph node dissection: on the way to implementation in European population of patients with gastric cancer (review)

Summary. Improving long-term results of surgical treatment of patients with gastric cancer remains a pressing issue of clinical oncology. The review highlights the stages and the results of extrapolation «eastern» doctrine advanced surgical procedures in the European population of patients with gastric cancer in terms of evidence-based medicine. D2 lymph node dissection now increasingly seen as the standard surgical treatment of gastric cancer in European specialized centers.
