Supraclavicular flap in head and neck tumors postoperative defects reconstructionFedorov D.Y., Rusyn А.V. , Boldizhar P.A. Summary. For the postoperative defects reconstruction of the head and neck soft tissues different techniques are used including regional and free flaps. The purpose of our study is to determine the possibilities of using the supraclavicular flap for the head and neck tumors postoperative soft tissue defects reconstruction. Object and methods. The results analysis was performed on the base of 15 patients with the supraclavicular flap postoperative defects reconstruction in head and neck tumors. Results. In 1 patient there was a partial skin necrosis of the supraclavicular flap, which led to the oral fistula formation, which was healed by local conservative treatment. In 3 patients there was a partial dehiscence of the donor wound skin edges. In all cases we received healing by secondary intension after local conservative treatment. Conclusions. The supraclavicular flap is a unique flap for the head and neck soft tissues postoperative defects reconstruction, which combines the advantages of regional and free flaps. Previously conducted radiation therapy does not affect the viability of the supraclavicular flap. The use of the supraclavicular flap is the main method for the reconstruction of the soft tissues postoperative defects of the oral cavity, oropharynx, hypopharynx, cervical trachea and esophagus.
